Robert “Cal” Laurimore

I started my career as a utilities technician in the US Navy CB’s. After technical school I was sent to train on boiler-steam processes, and HVAC  systems. I spent 5 years traveling global with the USN working in construction start up, and maintenance. The majority of my work was performed on instrumentation and electrical controls relating to boiler systems and, HVAC systems.

After leaving the military I started my career in industrial control systems at a GP paper mill in Palatka, FL. Since that time I have been working contract to complete many construction, design, and commissioning projects. The projects would include diverse industries such as power generation, pulp/paper, petroleum/gas, chemical, geothermal, and also commercial automated plants. Within these plants were many different types of process control systems. I was tasked to learn to troubleshoot, program, start-up, and instrumentation control loop design for these various control systems. To name a few-Delta V, Westinghouse Ovation, Siemens Teleperm XP, ABB, Allen Bradley, Bailey, and Foxboro.

The instrumentation in these plants that we install and calibrate is also widely diverse, to include analog, discrete, and field buss technology. After I left the USN I returned to school and received my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. While working I/C contract I also tested and received my national certification for instrumentation technology from NCCER. Through years of hands on experience and technical schooling I am able to provide accurate and reliable total process controls implementation.

I started my career by receiving a degree in Industrial Instrumentation and Controls from Northwest Louisiana Technical College. Immediately after completing tech school I went to work in the field. My first job was as an electrical and instrumentation technician at a paper mill owned by International Paper in Mansfield, Louisiana. I was then introduced to the power industry and trained by some of the industries elite Instrumentation and Controls Specialists and Engineers.

Since being in the power industry I have received the bulk of my training in combined cycle power facilities with equipment such as GE 7FA turbines, Westinghouse 501F, GE D11, GE A10, Toshiba, and Heat Recovery Steam Generators such as Aalborg, Nooter Erickson, NEM, etc. I have worked on many different control systems such as Emerson Ovation XP and Solaris, Rosemount Delta V, Honeywell, Teleperm XP, GE Mark V, GE Mark VI, Toshiba D-EHC, Foxboro, and Bailey. I received certificates through extensive training on the Toshiba D-EHC, Emerson Ovation and GE Mark VI. My experience also includes but not limited to working on many different manufacturers instruments such as Fisher, Rosemount, Moog, ABB, Limitorque, Rotork, Copes Vulcan, Yokagawa, Masoneilan, Micromotion, Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc, etc.

My interest in the operation of these plants, lead me to pursue learning Control room and outside operations as well as water chemistry. Through my training and hands on experience I am able to provide a wide variety of industrial and instrumentation support to your facility.
